About the event
WHOOP! You've decided to take on the MARINER CHALLENGE. Â The MARINER CHALLENGE is a self directed fitness event designed to provide 4 things that we all need.
1 - WINTER GOALS: Â Creates a targeted mindset through the holiday season.
2 - BALANCE: Â Most people gravitate towards what they are good at and avoid things that are more difficult... Train your weakness, create balance.
3 - MEASURABLE RESULTS: Â Â Upload your training to STRAVA. Â Your accumulated distances for the SWIM will be posted on the leader board.
4 - COOL SWAG! : Â If you complete your swim and your rep count within the 60 days... WHOOP you're a beast! Â
Your SWAG will be shipped out as soon as you reach your distance and rep count.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Access to pool or open water.
- Whatever swim attire/equipment you choose.
- STRAVA account for logging your swim distance. Â You will be sent an invite to the STRAVA CLUB/MARINER CHALLENGE.
- Access to a weight room or workout facility.
GENEREAL INFO:
- Last day to register is December 1st.
- The Timer starts on DECEMBER 1st.
- Official finish date is February 1st., (see FINISHERS RULES BELOW ).
- Both STRAVA and the HONOR SYSTEM are required.
THE SWIM:
- COMPLETE 30 miles of SWIMMING within 60 days.
- Swims MUST BE RECORDED onto STRAVA.
- Join the STRAVA CLUB via invite to insure proper recording of distances.
- Swim anywhere, pool or open water.
- Use any stroke or combination? Â Sure thing.
- Can I use a wetsuit, sure go for it!
*** Â Swim DISTANCE will be managed using the STRAVA CLUB LEADERBOARD.
*** You will receive updates on the STRAVA clubs page.
*** Double check your distance recorded on your watch to insure proper distance.
*** Kick sets are acceptable but might not be recorded by your recording device.
*** I would suggest a STRONG START knowing that you may lose a couple of days to the holiday season/travel. Â Playing "make up" is tough.
THE DUMBBELL CLEAN & PRESS:Â

- Please consult with your trainer, coach or workout facility for feedback on proper form and safety.Â
*** DUMB BELL weights are preferred.
FINISHERS RULES:
We understand that life happens. Â
There is no penalty for finishing outside the 60 days.
Finish within 60 days or less  - Earn your finishers hoodie, unique to your finishing time plus FINISHERS MEDAL
Finish in 61 days or more - Earn finishers hoodie.
HEALTH and SAFETY:
It is your responsibility to consult with your doctor about any suspected contraindications to exercise you may have.
Consult with your personal trainer, coach or fitness professional about options and progressions to maximize your results.
